Athletic Training

Athletic training is a holistic, systematic training concept that aims to develop and optimize all physical performance factors of an athlete. It forms the conditional and coordinative basis for sport-specific requirements and serves both to improve performance and to prevent injuries.

The focus is on the systematic training of various components such as strength, speed, endurance, mobility, coordination and stability. The training is characterized by functional, multi-joint exercises that take into account sport-specific movement patterns and chains and are often carried out with free weights, your own body weight or special training equipment.

Particular attention is paid to core stability (core training) and neuromuscular control, which are crucial for efficient power transfer and injury prevention. Another core principle is periodization, in which training intensity and scope are systematically varied in order to achieve optimal adaptive responses and avoid overtraining.

In physiotherapy, athletic training is increasingly being integrated into rehabilitation, particularly in the late rehab phase and in return-to-sport.

Areas of application:

  • Return-to-sport after injuries
  • Sport-specific performance enhancement
  • injury prevention
  • Compensation of muscular imbalances
