CMD Jaw Therapy

CMD therapy addresses functional disorders of the complex craniomandibular system, which includes temporomandibular joints, chewing muscles and surrounding structures.

These dysfunctions can cause a variety of complaints that extend far beyond the jaw area, as there are close functional connections to the cervical spine, the shoulder girdle and the entire posture system.

The physiotherapy treatment is carried out after a thorough diagnosis and includes various manual techniques to mobilize the temporomandibular joint, relax the often strained chewing muscles and normalize movement patterns. These include specific stretches, isometric tension techniques, trigger point treatment, and gentle temporomandibular joint tractions. In addition, the cervical spine and shoulder girdle are also included in the treatment.

An important part of the therapy is also patient education with posture training and self-exercises to relax the chewing muscles and promote functional movement patterns in everyday life.

Areas of application:

  • temporomandibular joint pain
  • Teeth grinding (bruxism)
