Bobath Therapy

Bobath Therapy is a neurologically oriented, holistic treatment concept developed in the 1940s by the couple Berta and Karel Bobath. This method is aimed specifically at patients with central nervous system disorders and focuses on promoting normal movement patterns while simultaneously inhibiting pathological movements.

The concept's 24-hour approach integrates therapeutic measures into the patient's entire everyday life, with a particular focus on activating the affected side of the body and improving the ability to balance. Bobath therapists work with special handling techniques that give the patient new movement experiences and improve body perception. The therapy aims to regain and strengthen motor skills through repeated practice in functional contexts. Individual adaptation to the patient's specific needs, resources and everyday requirements in order to achieve maximum independence is characteristic.
